I have a Lenovo X220 and it will not work under battery power. The AC has to be plugged in to operate. The battery indicator is stuck on 49%, but it says the battery is good and charging, but it is not. What do suppose the problem is?

Solution
Well, if it is at that percentage but won't run at all on battery alone, I would say your battery is giving you false power information and you need a new battery. However, to test that to be sure, try turning off the laptop (not sleep or hibernate but off) and leave it plugged in to charge for a few hours.

Then turn it on and see if the battery shows any progress. If no, you need a new battery.
