as described in the title, i have a pioneer vsx 90 amplifier that refuses to output to the sub woofer while using the bt audio as a source on the main zone. sat input and bd input work flawlessly with the sub on the main zone. initially i thought bt audio didn't support sub output for whatever reason, but i tested zone 2 on bt audio with the sub hooked up to the zone 2 pre out and it worked perfectly fine. so is there a setting i'm missing here?

Solution
BT is 2 channel stereo. The other inputs mentioned are probably HDMI and do receiver a 5.1 channel digital audio.
The zone 2 pre out is full range stereo and so isn't affected by any settings for your surround system. It is sending full range left and right to the sub not just bass.
When using the BT input don't use the auto surround mode. Select one that you like the sound of. The receiver will default to that mode when you select BT. That could affect the sub output.
You will have to check the menus of the receiver and find a setting that allows the sub to work when you are using a stereo source. It might involve changing speaker settings.
