HDMI VGA Connector stopped working

I have an HP laptop running windows 8.1 pro and i use it for presentations in my church.I have been using a HDMI to VGA connecter to project my slides an LC-XB33N projector.It was working very fine but after time it started flickering and then stopped.I thoght it was a HDMI connector problem so a i bought new one but it seems not to be.Please advise

Have you verified that this isn't a problem with the projector? Like the bulb blew?

yes it is not a problem with the projector nor even the cable ... i think the laptop does not sense the HDMI connector cable beacause even i have tried to test with another computer screen it does not work and it used to work but if i connect the VGA Cable i am using directly from a Desktop computer to the projector it works
