I have been trying to get headphones to work with my LG 55UF6450 smart tv. The tv doesn't have any headphone jack on it, it only has a digital audio out so after a bit of research I bought this converter https://www.amazon.com/GHB-Digital-Converter-Optical-Toslink/dp/B019ZCQ0Z2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1481303890&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=digital+to+optical+converter&psc=1

So I set it up, set the tv's sound setting to LG sound sync, plugged in my headphones and voila, I can hear through my headphones. Now the problem is I can't adjust the volume at all, it seems to constantly just stay at max (or close to it.) I've tried using different types of headphones, I've got a pair of earbuds with a volume knob on the cord and it doesn't do anything, also tried it with a pair of Beats which also have a volume knob on the cord to no avail. Adjusting the volume on the tv itself with the remote does nothing, and using a pair of headphones with no volume knob on the cord made no difference either.

So is there a way I can fix this? I'd really like to be able to use headphones with my tv, but since the tv has no bluetooth support and no headphone jack it seems almost impossible. I was thinking maybe some type of mix amp might allow me to adjust volume? Something like this? https://www.amazon.com/A1-Portable-Headphone-Amplifier-Silver/dp/B01CPUVPEM/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1481303851&sr=8-3&keywords=headphone+amplifier

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
