I'm having a bios error for my inspiron 16 5558 that says "dell ac power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined". It happened after months of use. I purchased a 45 watt genuine dell replacement but I'm getting the same issue. Any help on this would be fantastic. Thanks in advance

Hi Raz,
Dell Ac Adapters send a signal between the phases of the DC pulse current telling system what kind of Ac Adapter is connected. If the system doesn't receive this signal, it shows the error that you mentioned.
Being that you already tried with a brand new Dell Ac Adapter, probably the issue is on the Motherboard or on the cable that internally connects the external Ac Adapter plug with the Motherboard.
Better you check if sstem is still under warranty; if not, the resolution could be expensive (Mainboard&DC-In cable + intervention).
Have a nice day
