After two keys went nonfunctional, I purchased a new keyboard, which I'd planned to install myself. But while I'm able to get the old keyboard off, the ribbons appear to attach under a metal plate and I can't for the life of me figure out how to access them. This is a Toshiba Satellite (Ultrabook) E45t-A4300. I've searched online and haven't found any useful videos. Does anyone know if this is something I can do myself (and how), or am I going to have to send it to Toshiba?

Solution
You probably need to take more of the case off to get those metal covers off. Do a search for E45t-A4300 teardown and you will find some help.
