I've got an older model Bose Lifestyle 28 system that does not have HDMI inputs or outputs. My new TV, a Samsung 8000 has only HDMI inputs. What is the best way to connect the two? Previously, everything was hooked up with RCA cables. Of course I'd like to get the best picture and audio quality possible. Thanks for your input.

Thanks for the reply. I did just that, I bought a new Samsung 4K disc player and an optical cord to connect from the new TV output to the old Bose input. Took a bit of searching through the Bose menus to switch it to recognize the new optical input, but once I did it worked great. I was growing tired of the Bose DVD player anyway since it would freeze up at lease once per movie. I do still enjoy the Bose sound though.

so i have an older Bose 123 that does not have an HDMI so i have it hooked into the Samsung ONE CONNECT that came with the tv via optical cable so i have no picture and sound only. I have a new blu ray player so since the bose is connected to the ONE CONNECT box via clear optical cord and it comes up on my SOURCE menu as HDMI 2/ DVI should i run the HDMI cable from the new blu ray to the #2 HDMI port? Then will this give me picture for a DVD and sound from my Bose for the DVD?

thanks

I'm in the same position. You said you used an optical cable from ONE CONNECT to Bose, where did you connect it to on the Bose system?I'm trying to get my surround system back. Will any optical cable have the right connector for the Bose? Thanks

My Bose Lifestyle 28 system has an optical input. The optical cable is a standard connector and not specific to Bose so as long as your Bose system has an optical input, you're good to go. I picked mine up at Best Buy.

Hi, my Bose also has an optical input, but no optical on my ONE CONNECT, so I ran it through the Directv box, which has an optical. No surround sound, but CD is working. I'm wondering how you have an optical connection on your ONE CONNECT and I don't. Mine is a new Samsung. Thanks.

My ONE CONNECT has an optical audio port on the side, not on the back with all the other connections. Run that straight to your Bose system for audio.

Thanks I see the Optical connection on the side. The surround sound actually worked connected with optical from Bose to Directv box, however, when I used Netflix app, I continued to hear the sound from the tv program, not netflix. Not sure if I need to change the input to play Netflix, run 2 optical cables, one from ONE CONNECT, and one from directv box to receive surround on apps & TV I will first try what you have suggested and change the optical to ONE CONNECT.
