Redirection to a scam site

Apologies if the answer is already here somewhere.

I recently had a discussion with a guy (via email) re. a website he is partly responsible for, which basically sells subscriptions for IPTV packages.

He gave me his website address and told me that the website I had looked at was a scam site and if I paid money via that one, I wouldn't receive the service I requested - in fact I'd get nothing at all.

His website is <name>.com, the so-called scam site is <name>.tv and a lookup shows they are owned by different organisations.

When I enter both sites, the .tv site's homepage is different from .com's but going further in - they are identical in every respect. By that I mean the addresses shown in the address bar are identical and the webpages are exactly the same, as you would expect.

How can I prove that the .tv really is a scam site when both sites look like the real thing ??

Solution
I would treat both sites as a scam.

Not much of problem to list as .com and .tv Or set up different organizations......

Bad guys are trying all sorts of trickery.

You might find some "proof" of one way or another by googling for site/company/product reviews, consumer complaints, etc..

It should not be your problem to prove one site over another especially if both are trying to get your money.

Look elsewhere and let the .com website fight it out with the scam .tv site.
