So are we...

Taylor, I don't mean to patronize you, but we are going to need some more information:
- Is this a laptop or a desktop? (I assume laptop because of the Section we're in, but still).
- What brand is your computer?
- Is there a particular reason for the factory reset?
- What version of Windows 10 are you using?
- What brand of anti-virus program are you using?
- Is it an upgrade or a clean install?

You should consider lodging your post on the 'Windows 10' section of Tom's Hardware - you'll find lots of other posters with similar problems.

Cheers,
GreyCatz.

Hello, Jess:

First of all, hold down the power button on your computer until it dies. Then restart it. If your computer is 'working poorly' it could be down to any number of factors, and launching a factory reset is a rather drastic measure. Here are a few options to consider before that:

a) Run your anti-virus (or Windows Defender - it's included with Windows for free).
b) Locate the search field (or Cortana) in the Task bar and type CHKDSK. Select the option offered to run a hard disk check.
c) Re-install Windows 10 from a bootable USB.

I have to ask: Are you sure you mean 'factory reset'? A factory reset usually involves a recovery USB/CD from the computer manufacturer. Typically, people use the 'Reset this PC' option in Settings>Update & security>Recovery, and this feature is very unstable. Often you get a message that says Windows needs some files that aren't there, or Windows will simply stop.

I think your best option is to download the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

If the link doesn't react, copy-paste it to your browser. Make sure you have a USB stick (at least 8GBs). Then follow the instructions and select 'Clean install' when asked what type of installation you want. In your situation, this re-installation will serve as a 'factory reset' because you probably haven't had time to create lots of personal files or download tons of apps.

Finally, I'd like some info on your computer - Settings>System>About - please tell me everything it says on that page.

Cheers,
GreyCatz.
