I have a Toshiba Satellite, Windows 10. I turned on my computer one day and the x and ctrl keys no longer worked on the physical keyboard. They work on the touchscreen, and a USB keyboard. Everything else is fine. My drivers are all up to date. Judging by when the problem started, it does not appear to be related to a Windows update. I have tried to uninstall the keyboard driver but it does not appear to work; after the warning message, the "restart your computer" message pops up immediately. I restart, and the problem is not fixed. I have tried blowing air in case there's crud in there, but that does not appear to be the problem--and the keys are not adjacent. I am at a loss. Thoughts?

Solution
If uninstalling the driver and letting it reinstall on its own when the computer reboots hasn't helped, and the external keyboard and onscreen ones are fine, no errors/issues, then it sounds like there is a physical problem with the attached keyboard.

Was anything dropped on it? Like liquid, or an item. Either of which would have caused issues. Also, it could be due to the connections for the keyboard being loose.

If the device is under warranty still, I would contact the manufacturer. If not, then you are free to open it up and check it yourself, or take it to someone to do the repair.
