I have a Fluid brand (Cheaper) Tv and a philips soundbase as a speaker. I use a coax cable for sound because it seems to be the highest quality output that the tv has. The problem is after complete silence, it takes a second for the sound to come through again.

Does anyone have any suggestions to fix this problem?

If by coax, you mean Digital Coax, then yes, that's normal. I don't know why it does it, Google if you must. Digital Coax, Digital Toslink do the same thing. It annoyed me so much at some point I stayed with analog, but losing surround was too much so now am used to the second pause. Curiously HDMI digital audio doesn't have this idiosyncrasy.
