Hello.
First, did you check the power settings? Some TV have an ECO mode that prevents high brightness. Remove all eco modes and try again. Also it should be brightness you change, it's "backlight" first.
If backlight settings are ok, and brightness is centered, does the menu appear dark as well? If yes, then you probably have failed backlights... You should call the vendor or send it to a repair shop.
