Hi
I have a Toshiba E45t-B1406 and after doing a restore of Windows 10 some keys stopped working ie. display output, mute/unmute. Everything worked fine before. I already tried uninstalling the keyboard drivers in Device Management and reboot but still nothing. The keys do work because they make the backlight turn on when pressed. Any help is greatly appreciated.

So you are saying you installed it, rebooted without reinstalling and then it reinstalled on its own and still not working?

Have you checked to make sure it is using the correct layout? I mean for the correct language. Like if you are wanting it to be for UK but it is running US or vice versa. You can use the following info to check on that and install the right one for you if needed.

In Windows 10...

To add a keyboard language...

1. Click the "Start Start" menu and select "Settings".
2. Select "Time & language".
3. Click "Region & language" in the left column.
4. Select "Add a language".
5. Choose the language you want to add and select a country for the language.

To set a default keyboard layout...

1. Click the "Start Start" menu and select "Settings".
2. Select "Time & language".
3. Click "Region & language" in the left column.
4. Under "Languages" click the language you want as default and click "Set as default".

To switch keyboard layouts...

Option 1...

1. Click the "language name" in the lower right of the screen (taskbar).
2. Select the keyboard layout you want to use.

Option 2...

Press and hold the "Windows" key while you press the "Space bar" to change the language.

Thanks for your reply but not sure this would fix my problem. I am not having trouble changing input language but my "function keys" that controls brightness, volume, mute/unmute, wifi on/off, external display selector, etc. at the top of the laptop keyboard stopped functioning. I also found that my FN+Space bar(Zoom) is not working either. I'm guessing the reinstall of windows 10 messed up my keyboard driver.
As I said before I tried uninstalling the keyboard driver and restarting the computer to "reinstall" the driver but it did not fix my problem.

I understood that. Sometimes this is caused by the computer having the wrong language set up for the keyboard. As it can make the keyboard layout different.

You can also try the following....

Option 1 ... Uninstall Synaptics pointing Device driver.

Occassionally the default driver might cause a conflict with Windows 10. Due to this you may need to uninstall the "Synaptics pointing Device driver".

To do this go to "Control Panel", then go to "Device Manager". In here you will usually find the "Synaptics pointing Device driver" under either "Mice and other pointing devices" or under "Human Interface Devices".

Option 2 ... Uninstall the hotkey drivers.

1. Go to "Control Panel" and then "Device Manager".
2. Locate the "Toshiba hotkey driver". It may also just be called "Hotkey driver".
3. Right click on the driver and choose to uninstall it.
4. Now located the "HID Compliant Keyboard Driver" and the "HID Compliant Mouse Driver".
5. Uninstall both of these and then reboot the computer.

**Update**
I found that the F1-F12 keys are now the "main" for those keys and I need to push FN+a key for the "special" keys. I tried changing setup in BIOS but it doesn't want to save changes?? Do you know how to fix this?
Thx.
