Is HP Omen 17 good enough for heavy editing?

Hi guys, I'm looking for a good laptop that can do heavy photo and video editing. I know there's a new mac pro that just came out which I think is just way overpriced and not an option for me but I was wondering if does the HP Omen 17 with 4k res version will do the job for heavy editing. I don't really know much about laptops but your answers will be greatly appreciated.

You want to do heavy video and photo editing mobile? Like in a pick up truck or at starbucks? I'm not being facetious, I could legitimately see running through proofs if you're shooting a wedding or on a long excursion trying to capture wild life. I don't see battery lasting long enough in any laptop to do anything substantial though, especially a 4k one. When you compare the ability for a desktop to do these tasks, from a commercial, monetary stand point, the desktops productivity is light years ahead. Time is money!

That said, i think its fine and i don't think you'd gain much performance by spending a lot more money. 1TB HDD is odd on a laptop. Its too much data to have in a device that can be picked up, dropped or destroyed easily. 1TB 2.5" platters are not the fastest either.

12GB of ram is an odd number, not sure how they have it configured.

Overall it should be fine for basic tasks and even advanced tasks - its not slow. But if you depend on this for food i'd reconsider.

Thank you for taking time to answer my question. Photography and video making has been my hobby and passion for many years now but I want to take it more seriously which means I will need a good computer for editing but I want it ready for gaming as well since I like playing games once in a while

The main reason I wanted a laptop is because of the mobility but I also did some research and I can see that you can really get more in desktops for your money than laptops but again the mobility is a big factor for me since I like traveling a lot. I never really done any editing yet since this is going to be my first own computer and I want to make it right since its going to be my long term editing/gaming computer. It'll be kind very of you if you can provide some specifics of what I should look for with a maximum budget of 2000 usd that's good enough for editing/gaming.
