Hey guys, I need a gaming laptop under 2,000 Canadian Dollars, I need it for gaming on Ultra (GTA 5, Garry's Mod, CS:GO, TF2, Fallout 4, Half Life, etc) and editing 1080p and 4K video with Vegas Pro and Adobe Premiere. I was originally looking at the Razer Blade Pro, but I have decided to see what you guys recommend on here. There are also some features that I would like on a laptop too (Not all of them are needed), A 4K display, Mechanical or really good keys, a good built in mic (I have a Blue Yeti but this is for when I don't have it), an SSD for the OS and applications, back lit keyboard, 5GHz WIFI, more than 16GB of ram, and the capability of playing VR and games on Ultra.

Thanks for the help guys.

Don't get a gaming laptop, why not get a proper desktop PC?
Laptop CPUs are terrible compared to their desktop counter parts, and gaming laptops are severely overpriced.
You could get a 1080 build for $2000 or a laptop with a 1060.

"I need a gaming laptop"

You should ask him if he needs it first

A desktop PC isn't always the solution

Let me put it this way; if you're rendering video in Vegas Pro, buying a 4k display anyway (not portable by any means), asking for a mouse and keyboard as well as a microphone, you're not going to be doing anything on the go exactly are you?
In this case I think its safe to say that a desktop PC most definitely is the solution, as there's no way all of that's going to come under budget and give you a good triple A gaming experience as well.

ASUS ROG GL502VM is best suited but a bit over priced. I would recommend getting it as it will last very long time. The extra bucks you will be spending will make the it last 2years more than what you will be getting if you save them. This PC can handle any game at ultra comes with G-Sync screen. It has great quality keys. Comes with 256GB SSD. Has 16GB DDR4 RAM.

So this laptop should be able to run GTA 5 1080p @ Ultra and edit 4K?

Your performance will be severely crippled with a mobile i7 compared to a desktop one, would you be interested in a very small form factor ITX build?
I can get one to the size of a modem. :)
I'll post in a bit.

Yes it will definitely play GTA5 1080p @ Ultra. Definitely would perform greatly for editing 4K video(not as good as desktop would but for that budget that is the best you can get).

Features a GTX 1070, an i7 6700, a good cooler to keep temps low when rendering big files, a 240GB SSD, 2TB of HDD storage which you'll need for 4k video storage, 5GHz wifi and a 4k IPS display which will be great for video work.

Also as evident above, you're not going to get a laptop with a 4k display and good specs with that budget.
This is the best you can do for a laptop: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834234297&cm_re=GTX_1070_laptop-_-34-234-297-_-Product
It comes with a 1080p display and it is significantly slower than a desktop i7 which is listed above.
Also ends up $200 over budget.
Its not like you're going to sit outside for 5 hours while your 4k video file renders on your mobile i7 turning it into a toaster, so just go with an ITX PC and do it when you get home.
The ITX PC is plenty portable for LANs and a much better experience than hunching over a laptop screen.

I currently have a HP laptop that I paid like 1,000$ for, takes 2 hours to edit a 15 minute 1080p video, fml.

Thanks for posting that, @OP, now do you see why I don't want you to get a laptop for rendering? xD
The thing also turns into a personal grill during that time, and sounds like a jet engine because the fans are working overtime.

Now even we have Laptop that could render videos nearly as good as desktop but your budget is not allowing it.

If you want 4K rendering machine which is portable then take your time get $1000 more and go for it.

Check ASUS ROG G752VS OC Edition the i7-6820HK 4Core(8Threads) CPU can be OC to 4GHz it becomes beast and can handle 4K Rendering as good as i7-6700. It also comes with 32GB RAM and 256GB M.2 PCIe SSD. GTX1070 8GB GPU.

With all this it is portable.
