You have a good laptop for everyday usage however, it is not really meant for games especially if you are attempting to run games like minecraft at 4k (UHD) resolution. Lowering the resolution to 1080p should help increase performance. However, you need to realize that integrated graphics is rather weak compared to graphic chips found in gaming laptops.

Below is a video showing the performance of a HP laptop with an i7-6500u and the Intel HD 520 playing minecraft at 1080p.

On the spec page it says it has an nvidia gtx 960m embedded. You could try saving a report with HWInfo maybe https://www.hwinfo.com/ If it only has intel hd 520 graphics you aren't going to be able to play games with high fps regardless of the i7 CPU

If it only has Intel graphics then it isnt a gaming system put it that way, and not necessarily a bad deal, as top line gaming laptops cost double that, but you were probably paying for the i7 more than anything.

If you could post some system stats from CpuZ or HWInfo or somewhere it'd be easier to say for sure.

For a system you got for games, yes you got the wrong system for that much.

If you have a return policy from where you got it, return it and get this one https://www.amazon.com/Dell-15-6-Inch-Quad-Core-i5-6300HQ-Processor/dp/B015PYYDMQ

At under $740 now it's a good buy and a well-rounded laptop.
