I hope someone here can help... I had a client bring in a Satellite L55D that black screened during an upgrade to Win10. I figured it was outputting video to the vga or hdmi ports but no such luck.

It seems to be booting normally otherwise, I've pulled the HD and the file structure seems ok, no corruption, no visible issues. When it boots I get no screen at all, no BIOS or anything. I thought that I'd just pull her old files, buy her an SSD and reinstall using the Windows USB drive she bought from Toshiba but I still can't get any video output to start the installation.

What in the heck am I missing here? I thought I'd pull the CMOS battery but I tore everything down to the motherboard and couldn't find one. I'm at a loss here and can't stand the idea of giving it back to the client without being able to do anything. If anyone has any ideas on what I could be missing, please let me know.

One thing I noticed that was odd was when I pulled the heatsink, Toshiba has a plastic black ring around the processor (AMD A10) that's glued on but this one appears to have been glued on slightly shifted to one side so that maybe 2-3mm of the processor is not getting direct contact with the heatsink but instead is going through the plastic, into the thermal paste and then finally into the heatsink. I thought that maybe the graphics portion of the chip might have overheated because of this but I would think that any problems would've occurred before the Win10 upgrade.

No luck, I tried both sticks and neither made a difference.

Does anyone know how to reset the bios on one of these? Toshiba told me I could do it but wouldn't walk me through it without a screen.
