Hi, I have a Lenovo U310 with a completely destroyed screen. I was running it on an external monitor and it was working fine and had it updated to windows 10. I had this at my girlfriend's apt and it was working but it now no longer displays to the external monitor.

I've tried all the hotkeys and even completely removed the screen to no avail.

Is there a way to remove the HDD and install an operating system using a separate computer and then reinstalling the HDD to the U310 to get it to display on the external monitor again?

Thanks in advance!

Hi there teatimecrumpet,

Unfortunately, the OS should be installed on the HDD, while it is attached to your laptop.
If you install Win while the HDD is attached to another system, with different hardware and attach it back to your laptop, it would most probably not boot. You will get a BSOD or some other error message.
