Toshiba Sattelite running slow

My Toshiba Sattelite laptop is running slow lately. For example, when I type in the search bar, it takes 45 seconds to the letters to appear. I tried deleting programs, deactivating programs on startup etc. but none of them seems to work.
I would really enjoy if you could help me!

You could try de-fragmenting the HDD
or it might be worth backing up your important files on a portable drive factory resetting it.

I would agree with Autocrat. It may be a good idea to back up the important data stored on the drive. After that, you can see if it is in a good shape: http

Apart from that, if the drive is healthy, you can go to Resource Monitor and see if there is high usage of something.
