My father's Toshiba C50-A507 Laptop won't boot. Whenever I press the power button the LED indicators light up, the hard drive spins and the fan spins fast then slows down on a repeat but nothing shows on the screen. Any help/advice? Thanks!

So it sounds like it IS actually booting, you just are not getting anything on the display. That is different. :)

NOTE: If the device is under warranty, please contact the manufacturer for repair or replacement before doing any work that requires you to open the device, as that would void the warranty.

Turn off the device, connect an external monitor, turn on the external monitor and then turn on the laptop. If you can see your desktop on the external monitor, then the connected display is the problem. From here you would need to check a few things like the ribbon cable that connects the display. Make sure it isn't loose, bent, pinched, damaged, etc. If it is you should replace it. If that isn't it, then you should consider replacing...

Now if you see nothing even on the external monitor, then your graphics card is probably fried. In this case you will probably need to replace the entire motherboard.
