I have an HP Pavilion 17 Laptop. I spilled coffee, opened it up and cleaned it, and my laptop keys were sticking upon startup. In other words I couldn't enter my password to get in because the buttons would press on their own, infinitely.

So I opened it back up, cleaned it again and then just a few keys were disabled. And so I opened it back up flushed the residue of the coffee I could still see and now the keys are back sticking wtf.

What would cause the keys to stick like this? There is absolutely no more coffee. I got to work immediately after the coffee spill. It doesn't seem coffee related now. Now it seems like it has something to do with the installation of the keyboard itself and something I'm doing wrong. Are the screws on too tight?
Thanks

Maybe try flushing it again, or just cleaning it with rubbing alcohol. That way you'll be able to try and get everything out, because sometimes water doesn't dissolve everything.
It sounds like, although you think you got all the residue, you didn't. Which is totally normal. Especially with something other than water. It doesn't take much for it to stick.

What are you using to clean it? and also, are you letting it dry well, open and not put back together, for a while after you do the cleaning? It really needs to air dry for a long while.

Also, it may not just be in the keys. It can be in the housing, under the keyboard, etc. Best to check everywhere.

Funny thing, it's working now. But I'm almost expecting something to just give out any minute here LOL. When I turned it back on, the keys were again going crazy and then it suddenly just stopped and now all my keys work. Well I just realized typing this that my 'W' key links the Q, and my 'S' key, if not pressed carefully, links the A along with it. Smh...

I would clean it and let it sit nearly 24hrs which made the entire process that much more annoying when it didn't work. I believe there is still some stickiness from the coffee, but I'll just have to see what happens next. Thanks
