Hello everyone, I am new here. I am a network engineer so I hope I can also provide help at some point to give back to the community.

I have a set of Logitech Z-2300 which are no longer manufactured or supported but anyone who's owned a set will know they're worth keeping and fixing.

I have a strange problem with the subwoofer which isn't receiving power at all.

Originally I thought it was the control unit as the speakers were working but not optimally so I ordered a new (original) one from eBay from a person who owned a Z-2300 which was practically new.

The speakers now work perfectly but the subwoofer still doesn't come on.

The seller was selling the whole set but since I am overseas I couldn't get them to ship the subwoofer as well as it weighs a lot so I only got 2 new speakers and the control unit.

I opened the box that contains the subwoofer and changed the sub with another one to see if it was the actual sub and it's not, the sub works when connected to another power source only it's not receiving power from the board on the Z-2300 so I have no idea what to do.

Does anyone have any insight on this?

Thanks,
Martin

could be your subwoofer amplifier or a blown fuse if it has one in line. it would have been a good idea to have those spare parts or spare amplifier.

it wasnt very clear what you meant by hooking up to another power source.

while the z2300 may be a decent pc speaker system, no pc speaker system is really special enough to devote big money into fixing (z5500, z906 included). ymmv though.

The fuse is removable from the outside, I tested it for continuity and it seems to be fine.

I would simply replace it if I wasn't currently in south america - thing is it's a coin flip for something to actually arrive here without customs stealing it and saying it got lost so repairing it is my only option for the moment. Getting a new one here is also a rip off, $400 - $500 USD for a $80 system.

What I meant by hooking it up to another power source is I removed the subwoofer and plugged it in elsewhere and it works fine so it's not receiving power from the board on the Z-2300

I would have to disagree, the z2300 was a fantastic 2.1 that blew me out of the water everytime I listened to it, I've owned 4 of them total and alot more considering the ones Ive bought and resold making thousands off of them because they were highly coveted for a while.. I've been trying to find the specificiations on these so I can get the fuses in bulk and sell on ebay.

If I can find the specifications on the fuse I'll post it up here.

Also, IMO, this is one of the only speaker systems ever that is working keeping up and running for life. it blows your socks off.
