All my wireless devices work 2 laptops windows 7 and xp, samsung smart tv, and iphone.I have.as my provider Century Link. The lap top I was given now will sometimes detect more that none wireless network but when I click on the bubble in the task bar the search screen says no wireless networks detected. I reset the computer back to when it was given to me and now shows several wireless networks. When I click onto mine it once again says no wireless networks detected. When I hard wired to the modem it works fine.
When I reset the computer the virus protection (NOD32 Antivirus 9 , goes away as well as the start page that was installed.

Try this... When WiFi won't connect.

First, make sure your laptop is 'not' connected to the modem/router via an Ethernet cable and follow the steps:

1. Go to "Control Panel".

2. Next go to "Network and Internet" and then "Network and Sharing".

3. Now click on "Manage Wireless Networks".

4. On this screen, remove all wireless connections by "right clicking" on it and select "Remove network" from the drop down menu.

5. After doing this, close the windows and scan for the "Wi-Fi networks".

6. Click on the available network that you want to access and select "connect".

7. It takes a moment, but then you will be asked to give a password for your Wi-Fi connection. Type in the password and click the "connect" button.

It should now...

NOTE: If this doesn't work, you may want to reset your modem/router, and then once it is fully loaded again, repeat the above steps.

Should this not work at all, you may need to replace the card, or get an external WiFi card as the ability to connect remotely may be non-working. You can test that by connecting an external WiFi card via the USB port and see if it works. If it does, then the installed WiFi is your issue.
