Ubuntu has a partition manager called Gparted... use it to create a NTFS partition to install Windows 10. When Win 10 is up and running, download EasyBCD to add the Ubuntu entry to the Win 10 bootloader, see the EasyBCD instructions. And if you want to format the HDD and remove Ubuntu, use the Windows 10 installer to format the HDD when starting the Windows 10 installation process.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. The problem I've had so far is the restore media runs automatically and doesn't allow me to select a partition. What I was hoping is to find a free download that I could use to just reformat the drive with one bootable active partition that the restore media would recognize. Does that make sense and if so does anyone know of such a free program I could download and put on a bootable flash drive to start the computer with and format the drive with?

There are different recovery CD/USB images such as the Hiren's Boot CD/USB... or you could use the Ubuntu CD/USB if you still have it. Or download one and run it from a bootable Live CD or USB... Linux distros include a partition manger called Gparted. You could use it to format the drive with the NTFS file system.

You can create a bootable live USB drive with apps such as "Universal USB Installer Maker" which can build a bootable USB with Hiren's Boot CD, with a Linux distro, or with a Windows Installer.
