When I connect my new laptop to the router, the Internet goes out on the router after a few minutes of use

I just bought a new hp laptop a few weeks ago, and everything was fine for a couple of weeks. But lately whenever I connect to my router the internet connection completely stops for every device connected to the router, including the laptop. The router still has a signal when this happens. The router won't have an internet connection until I reset it, or power it off and on. I upgraded the routers firmware and did a factory reset on the laptop, but neither have fixed the problem. I have verified the DHCP settings for the laptops network card are set to automatic.

If the laptop is not working for any device, then it can't be the laptop that has the problem. It is most likely the router/modem that has the issue.

You said you "reset" it, but did you do the quick version, which is to turn it off, leave off for a few and turn it back on. Or did you actually go into the modems/routers settings and reset it from there? Doing it in there would give a more thorough reset.

Also, while in the router/modem settings, you can check for errors logged. Did anything specific occur when this happened? Perhaps it wasn't any device, but your internet provider. I would check with them as well.

Lastly, if none of the above works, you may need to replace the modem/router.
