Canon Powershot SX50 HS acting slow when moving through the playback menu

I've had my Canon for at least 5 years now (upgrading soon) but recently, whenever i click into the playback menu, it takes a while to do things. Zooming in and out of pictures seems slower and non respondent sometimes. And trying to play a slo mo movie or regular recording seems impossible with it just constantly saying "busy" and the green light flashing. Same goes with looking through regular photos.
At one point it was stuck saying busy with a flashing light, and I couldn't turn it off, so I opened the battery door (which normally cuts power immediately, but the camera stayed on this time) then had to pull the battery out completely.

What's causing it to act up all of the sudden? I've treated it so well over the years.

Expensive or not, that would be the easiest way to diagnose.
And a camera owner with only 1 SD card is a disaster waiting to happen. They die. All the time.

What I more meant to say was I have 5 SD cards, but only one good one. The others are either 8gb or less OR really old with low write speeds.

OK, so what happens with one of the 8GB ones?
Same thing or different?

Haven't tried it yet. Worth a try I suppose but I don't think it will make it better (again not a very high quality card). I'll have too see tomorrow.
