I'be had this computer for almost 3 years in December, I believe. It's never really had any issues up to this point.
I was making dinner with a recipe pulled up on my computer, and the display started going out and coming back in. It said that the display driver failed but came back. I went through and (thought) I repaired the driver.
My friend and I are about 3/4 of the way through a movie playing on my laptop, running an HDMI to the tv, when the tv screen went black. I look at my computer screen, and it was blue with random white streaks running vertically.
I unplugged the laptop and took the battery out.
I have tried almost everything I have found to work for other people. I tried just taking the battery out and waiting. I tried taking the battery out, holding the power button, and then trying to turn it back on. I even went as far as to take my computer apart and reheat my GPU. Nothing. Each time, it just does the same thing when trying to turn it back on: black screen, 3 lights on.

Solution
Have you tried turning the laptop off, connecting an external display, turning on the external display and then turning on the laptop?

With this, if the external display actually shows your desktop, then it is the attached display that is the problem.

However, if the external display also won't show anything correctly, then you probably need a new graphics card.
