Acer e5-575 screen not turning on

I had my laptop on and it turned off for some reason wasn't paying attention. Tried to turn it on and screen won't come on but keyboard will light. Also the fan won't turn on either. I tried to open it up but apparently I need to key to get in so I'm stuck. Any help would be appreciated

Need a Key? That is odd.

You can try this...

1. Turn off the laptop.
2. Connect an external monitor.
3. Turn on the external monitor.
4. Turn on the laptop.

If you can see the screen on the external monitor, then your laptops display, or the ribbon cable that connects it, is the problem. To check you would need to be able to open it up.

If you can't see anything on the external monitor either, but you are sure the laptop is actually turned on, then your graphics card is probably going to need to be replaced.
