How do I put my credentials into the details of exported songs in LMMS so people know who made it A.K.A. artists, genre, producer, etc.

Solution
I finally found a way to edit the metadata from the songs made from LMMS. You need to upload them to SoundCloud, edit the metadata, (make it private if you want), enable downloads, then download the song. The download will be the song with the metadata filled in!

It would help to tell us what OS you are using, what file type and what software you are using. I am running Windows with WAV files and I can just add tags and edit tags within the metadata of each song. With Windows and FLAC it is even easier to add metadata and tags. If your files are MP3 then you might need to purchase software or write code to edit the metadata.

You can't use LMMS to edit tags, that is why I asked you what software you intend to use to edit the tags. You mentioned in the first post of this thread that you used LMMS to create the songs, I asked what software are you using to edit the tags.

Windows 10 has a lot of options, just tell us what software you are using.

I assume that you have already created the song and that you have the song stored on your hard drive as a file, what kind of file is it?

I create .wav and mp3 files using ProTools. It allows for some basic metadata to be included when the file is first created. When I want to edit or add additional items, I just find the file on my HDD, right click, select properties, select details, then go to whichever item you want to edit, double click on it and it should allow you to type whatever you want. (I am on Windows 8 Pro).

I have tried the properties, but it won't allow me to edit anything. I will try ProTools

ProTools is the DAW that is used to actually record the songs, mix and edit and then create the final stereo mix.

I have noticed that when trying the properties route to edit the metadata, sometimes it doesn't let me edit anything on the first try, but does on the second or third try (exiting out of properties each time). I am administrator and have full permissions.

I have admin privileges, I'll try it over and over.

Hmm, I just noticed something. If I try to edit the metadata in a song where I have not previously entered any metadata (such as Artist, Album, Year, etc.) then I can't seem to edit anything. But on songs with some metadata, I can edit the existing items or add data to empty items.

Like I told you a couple of weeks ago upthread, you need the proper software. Yes ProTools will do it, but that is very expensive.

Here is a step by step description on how to do it.

I looked at the online documentation for LMMS. Under the section "Exporting The Song", there is a discussion regarding file format, sample rate, bit rate, bit depth, etc., but nothing regarding entering additional metadata other than naming the song. Being a free download, my guess is they have elected not to add the features found in professional DAW software. So you may be out of luck with regards to editing any metadata fields.

ProTools is quite expensive. I just mentioned it above because that is what I use in my studio. Perhaps the OP should download the free version of ProTools First and import the finished audio into that, and then export the clip as a wav or mp3 file, adding the metadata there. On Avid's website, there is a "system requirements" section for ProTools First to see if your computer is up to the task. From what I understand ProTools First is just a stripped down version of the latest full featured version of Pro Tools.
