For some reason the rear audio jack only allows stereo to work and no sound comes from anywhere else if set to 7.1 so I unplugged my headset and put it in the front jacks and it works fine. Why is this? I like having my cables in the back of my pc and am wondering how do I get the rear audio jack to function fully.

assuming you use a virtual surround sound program on your pc for simulated 7.1 and are using a normal 3.5mm jack.

when plugged into the rear i would first make sure you check your settings again to make sure you have virtual surround turned on for this jack.

Using realtek audio manager. This is what it looks like when I test the audio. It shows for rear that it's making sound but I don't hear anything. http://imgur.com/EKwVpe2

those settings show that you likely have things set up for speakers 7.1. in other words, using 4 ports on the back. speaker 7.1 (actual) is different than headphone 7.1 (virtual). you may need to go into your actual realtech settings and see if there are options to change the default config on the rear to headphones not speakers and if 7.1 surround is an option there. i cant say i use realtech drivers myself so i'm only noting something you could look for.

why you dont hear sound is because it is playing out of different ports (for speakers) that you arent using for headphones.

razer virtual surround may be able to work for you on the rear jacks as well but i dont use it myself.

When I plug in the audio jack I'm given the option for "Front speaker", "In Line" or "Headphones". Setting to headphones makes no difference than to front speaker which it was on but I kept it on front speaker because that's what it was on previously when I had no problems.
