Hi Guys,

I'm having trouble with a Toshiba satellite C50D-A-133. it will boot up but only if the battery is disconnected and it is running directly off the charger.

If I leave the battery connected the power button lights up and the fan starts but other than that I get no life out of the machine at all.

I've tried draining the capacitors (remove battery, hold power for 30secs etc), I've replaced the CMOS battery (I read it somewhere) and I've shift+F8+power (again, I read that somewhere) but nothing works.

I'm assuming the battery is dead but surely if the adapter is connected the machine knows to bypass the battery and use external power rather than just fail to boot altogether?

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks,

Hi, the problem is about current, maybe the battery is drawing too much current for the laptop, or the adapter is not giving enough current for the battery, or the charging circuit is defective. First change the battery, second the adapter, and if the problem is still there, the laptop need repair.
