So I recently purchased an MSI GE62VR 6RF Apache Pro laptop with a Nvidia Geforce GTX 1060 graphics card. As a laptop specifically designed for gaming, naturally that is what I intend to use it for. However, literally the first day I try playing a semi-intensive game (Sims 4), it turned off after just 5 minutes or so. No blue screen, no error messages, just shuts off.
My first instinct is that it is overheating, so I downloaded a monitor program to see what the temps were. When the game starts to run slow (minutes before turning itself off), core temperatures were around 90 degrees Celsius.
If this is the problem itself, I can't figure out what would be causing it. Based on reviews, this laptop shouldn't have any problems with overheating so early on, much less a last generation game after 5 minutes. I've updated the card drivers, updated Windows, but the problem persists.
I emailed tech support from the company I purchased this from (iBuyPower), but of course they're out for the weekend. So I'm hoping you guys might have some advice!
