Check in Device Manager and in the Wi-Fi adapter's Properties. Look to see if you're only set to receive in a single channel. It may not be the one the router is broadcasting on. If you have a Roaming setting of Normal, change it to High.
While you're in there, make sure the Power Management allows the device to turn off to save energy. That would give you a slow start to a browsing session.
