Hi guys, i have just finished setting up a 3.1 speaker set up on a yamaha rx-v465 and i have just realized that i plugged the front speakers into the rear surround speaker wire inputs.

so my question is, will the receiver pick this up and play the front sounds through the surrounds, or do i have to rewire it. The reason i ask is that this took a while to get in place and i would rather leave it where it is than take it out, but obviously if it wont work properly i will do so.

as a side note, when on straight mode it only gives sub woofer sound, but when on modes such as 'standard' it seems to give good sound when watching TV shows, but sometimes may have issues with music (mainly when my pc is connected, but my cable box and ipad seem to do ok), however i found 7ch stereo is better and so i use that for pure music listening.

assuming i do need to rewire, the front speakers are banana plug inputs, so i was also wondering if i can just shove speaker wire into them or if i actually will need to buy banana plugs and use those (sorry if this sounds nooby, but i thought i might as well ask just in case).

your help is appreciated

I Shall, just one more quick question, when i have the speakers plugged in right, would you recommend i use straight mode, or the other modes available such as standard/7ch enhancer etc.

In terms of your specific Yamaha, and your specific room, and your specific ears....try it in different modes
What sounds best to you?
