Hi everyone!

I'm looking for an i3 laptop doesn't need to be any fancy one just need it for school that will get the job done

I saw this one https://www.amazon.com/Asus-X540LA-SI30205P-15-6-Inch-Laptop-Windows/dp/B01DMNX5PS/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1473802010&sr=8-1&keywords=i3+laptops

not sure if its good or not so suggestions would be helpful

Budget: $400
Location: USA/California
Screen Size: 15" or so
Features: I will probably clean start so there will be no adware and since they always have drivers on their (company) website it will be easy to do

I prefer brands like Asus or dell

Thank you!

$370 FHD screen. Just add ram: http://www.logicbuy.com/deals/asus-core-i3-windows-10-laptop/84806.aspx

Not quite Skylake, but Broadwell directly followed Haswell and is on the same 14nm process as Skylake and Kabylake. Quite improved graphics compared to Haswell.

(Here it is on Amazon as well: https://www.amazon.com/Asus-F555LA-AB31-15-6-Inch-i3-5010U-Processor/dp/B011KFQASE/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1473803064&sr=1-1&keywords=laptop&refinements=p_n_feature_four_browse-bin%3A2289794011%2Cp_36%3A30000-40000)

$350 - Also 4GB of memory, and your Skylake i3, but only a 1366x768 screen. http://www.dell.com/us/p/inspiron-15-3558-laptop/pd?oc=fncwc105sb&model_id=inspiron-15-3558-laptop

$400 ASUS 1TB of the above from logicbuy, not sure...

Though even with your brief requirements list, there aren't going to be very many Skylake or Kabylake i3 platforms to choose from with just Dell and ASUS.

$400 ASUS 1TB of the above from logicbuy, not sure on screen resolution. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA6R441G8885#close

On amazon for even less: https://www.amazon.com/Asus-Laptop-i3-5020U-Windows-Gradient/dp/B0181OV6JA/ref=sr_1_13?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1473803064&sr=1-13&keywords=laptop&refinements=p_n_feature_four_browse-bin%3A2289794011%2Cp_36%3A30000-40000

Doesn't seem to be too many choices.

Not a bad price for a 1366x768, basically the standard bargain class display.

Internet standard used to be 800x600, they now say it is 1024x768, but 1280x800 and 1440x900 have been around a good while. The 'new' standard is likely to be 1920x1080 that of FHD television and most off the shelf monitors and laptop screens. So some sites are going to be too 'big' to view on the screen.

If you have poor vision it may assist with having icons and text and such be larger in general. But FHD at 15" is going to be a lot sharper.
