Hi,
I am running windows 8.1 64-bit on a Dell Latitude E6410 and connected via ethernet. When I click on my home wifi network it shows that it's been selected but no option appears to join it. I've run troubleshooting for the wireless adapter. Malwarebytes scanning shows nothing. Thanks for any help!

Well if you are connected via Ethernet (corded) then you shouldn't see the option for WiFi. You would have to not be plugged into the router/modem for the WiFi to be able to connect to that particular device.

Once you are unplugged from the router/modem, then try the following...

1. Go to "Control Panel".

2. Next go to "Network and Internet" and then "Network and Sharing".

3. Now click on "Manage Wireless Networks".

4. On this screen, remove all wireless connections by "right clicking" on it and select "Remove network" from the drop down menu.

5. After doing this, close the windows and scan for the "Wi-Fi networks".

6. Click on the available network that you want to access and select "connect".

7. It takes a moment, but then you will be asked to give a password for your Wi-Fi connection. Type in the password and click the "connect" button.

It should now be connected.

NOTE: If this doesn't work, you may want to reset your modem/router, and then once it is fully loaded again, repeat the above steps.

Thank you so much, however, I just tried to connect to a public network and the same problem occurred. Also, I do see the wireless option with the ethernet connection in effect. Also Network and Sharing Center doesn't show me the option to remove the network.

Yes, I'm online now via Ethernet.
