I have a set of Logitech Z623 computer speakers. This is my second set. The first set that I had lasted me two years. I have had this set for almost two years now. The Z623s are hooked up to an ASUS Xonar U7 external sound card via shielded RCA cables. Both today and a few days ago, I noticed a static type sound when turning on the speakers. I did not see the speaker light flicker like what happened with my first Z623s, but I am concerned that the speakers are going bad on me. In the last 30 minutes I have adjusted the master volume on Windows from 100% to 50% and moved the RCA cables away from most of the other computer and power cables. Also, just in case this may be a factor in my problem, I am using updated ASUS Xonar software designed for Windows 10.
My Questions are as followed:
1. I use my computer almost every day. Primarily the speakers are used for music and gaming. Am I just wearing out the speakers or could their be a defect in my computer speakers? I ask this because I am noticing static at about the same time as when the other Z623s started having problems problems.
2. Has anyone else been having problems with their Logitech Z623s going bad after a couple of years or has this model been known to have defects?
3. I realize that I may have gone overkill with THX-certified speakers and that there are good non-THX speakers out there. If it is in fact my computer speakers going bad, what would be an appropriate 2.1 computer speaker set to buy that cost $100 or less that would work well with both music and gaming?
