Hi,

I would like to have your advice:
I'm interested in buying a media streamer for the following purposes in a descending order:
A) Play music from my phone / local hard drive / computer to an AV receiver. I guess most streamers can do that.
B) Play high-quality (1080p, DTS) that are stored on a computer in the same network. I want to play them with subtitles.
C) It would be really cool if I could stream live content that I find on the web (e.g., some random website broadcasting live sports) to the TV.

I guess what I don't need are Netflix, Hulu etc. apps - as I don't live in the US I won't be able to use them in any case.

I don't trust my wifi connection, and I prefer an ethernet connection. I tend to get the Roku 2, but I'm not sure it is the best fit.
What would you recommend?

Right on top of my head, an HTPC (Home Theater PC) or a ready-made box(es) such as AppleTV, but since you are not in the U.S. I don't know, for example what Applets an AppleTV has built-in for you. An HTPC then is the most flexible and you can buy it from assassinhtpc.com, or DIY it. Be warned some people feel DIY an HTPC is too much tinkering, only if you are up to the task.
