Im looking for a durable laptop capable of doing light gaming (csgo and light indie titles) and also capable of taking falls from 3 -4 feet off the ground. Id prefer the laptop to be brand new but going for the best price to performance would mean going for a refurbished laptop, which im fine with.

I was thinking of getting http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA5WM2MA3600
(which is a good deal especially for $380 but doesn't meet all my needs)

Preferred Sites are Amazon or Newegg btw.

Yes. If we wrap everything in bubblewrap, we will be perfectly safe.

Hi

Older laptops did not have ssd drives as standard

Very few can survive a 3 or 4 foot drop onto the floor
Unless there is thick carpet

Panasonic tough books spring to mind but usually lower powered and expensive

Some laptops have accelerometers which triggered head parking if subject to vibration or falling.

I have seen two recent reports of a laptops falling a few feet onto carpeted floor with no visible external damage

But Both hard drives failed, one dead the other had large mumber of bad sectors
The ssd should help prevent that damage

And its not just the drive that might fail from a drop, but also the lid hinge, internal connectors, case cracking, etc, etc.

A few years ago, I dropped a Sony VAIO onto a wood floor, from about 3 feet. It survived. But was probably slowed down a bit by dragging the power cable. It survived, and probably still works.

But that is a data point of exactly one. Can't extrapolate that out into ALL Sony's.
