1. good a protecting my computer
2.Light on system resources
3. has a easy GUI
4. Has a scheduler built in?
5. has to be 100% free.
6.What you guys use on your computers
any suggestions would be appreciated.

I use Bitdefender paid version and would have recommended the free version except it doesn't let you set up your own scans - its got good protection scores though
Avast free is okay, i expect they ask for money all the time though. They do that even after you have the paid version.

Get Malwarebytes Anti-virus, Super Anti Spyware or Bitdefender.
Those are the top three anti-virus programs I use.
Super Anti-Spyware has a great registry scan that no other programs do well that picks up and removes PuPs that have infected files or are posing as legitimate, the kind of stuff no other program finds! :)
Avast isn't great imo @Colif, very money focused and doesn't find much stuff.

i jumped from avast to bitdefender. from constant begging for money (on the paid version) to no questions at all from bitdefender, though it has offred a discount on renewal last few weeks, one random pop up is better than avast. Bitdefender generally stops files being infected so I don't need the other one. I could run malewarebytes if I thought anything get past my browser add ons. Last virus I got seemed to come from a steam game update, unusual source.
