Buy laptop (HP Spectre) in UK, or wait for holiday in New York to purchase?

I'm going to New York soon. With the increase in the value of the pound, and the cheaper cost of electronics in the US, should I snag the latest HP spectre while I'm there? The keyboard and warranty might be an issue, and while it has USB C charging, I heard it only works with a proprietary charger. What's the tax rate there? I assumed 20% which still works out at £920, which is unheard of in the UK.

Sales tax in NY is a bit strange. The state tax is 4% but then different localities add some as well. The worst I've heard of is New York City that tacks on another 4.875%. If you happen to be heading anywhere near New Hampshire (a different state just to the north) you'd be pleased to find that there is no sales tax (how good is that!).
I don't see why where you buy it would affect the warranty but ... you would need a different power supply for the uk and as you say - the keyboard would be a little different.

tax is weird, when it's added on after the price, so it's advertised as $x + tax, but i dont think its anywhere near as much as we pay. Only worry is that warranties and stuff and power etc, and thats a big wprry
