I have an older JVC (2009) that I'm trying to connect to an android box tyrough HDMI. The HDMI works with cable box but will not work with android box! What am I doing wrong?

Solution
The Android box might not be detecting the TVs resolution through the HDMI "handshake". If it outputs 1080p, a higher resolution than your TV can handle, you won't get a picture. Connect the box to another 1080p TV (or to the same TV with av cables) and set the HDMI output to 720p which your TV should be able to handle.

Just to be sure I understand. You are unplugging the hdmi from your cable box (where it works) and plugging it into your android box (and this does not work)?
Do you get anything from the tv at all such as 'no signal detected' or does the screen just stay blank?

You are correct. The screen is blank. No error message.
