Yes, you can. If the speeds are exactley the same, then, as far as i'm aware, brand is irrelevant.

Not really no.

If the speeds and timings are identical even the same brand of memory sometimes doesn't work together. The only way to guarantee this to work is to get the same exact brand/model/etc of memory. Otherwise its a crapshoot as to whether it will work or not, and many times it does not.

Better safe than unaware that you should be sorry, as they say. I have done it in the past and had it fail miserably, also had it work a treat. If this is all you have available and can't get a hold of different RAM, then it will be OK. Though you should always get matching sticks of RAM when you can.

It's not even just same brand and model, when you have multiple sticks they should be coming from a kit where the manufacturer is guaranteeing that those particular modules work together.

To put numbers on these things, you can mix sticks about 97% of the time.

When you mix multiple sticks you are restricted to the slower of the two. For example, combining DDR3-1866 10-10-10 with DDR3-1600 9-9-9 we are only guaranteed that *if they work together at all* it would be at 1600MT/s 10-10-10. Now it may be that the 1866MT/s module will run at 1600MT/s 9-9-9; it may be that it's also rated for 10-10-10 at 1600MT/s. It may be that the 1600MT/s module will run at 1866MT/s 10-10-10 but either way those other settings are memory overclocks. In this contrived example, it would either never work or would safely run at 1600MT/s 10-10-10 and *might* support other speeds but they are overclocks for one of the modules.

I have this ram currently
Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR4-2133 Memory
So should I buy the same kit? If so is this the same?
Crucial 8GB Kit 2X4GB DDR4-2133 CL16 Sr X8 Unbuffered DIMM 288PIN

If you can get the exact model number off the ram you have that would help.

Its probably the same, but there is a chance it is not.

The model number you gave me is what I linked to. that memory is CL 15, the memory you asked if it was the same:

Crucial 8GB Kit 2X4GB DDR4-2133 CL16 Sr X8 Unbuffered DIMM 288PIN

Is CL 16. Its slower than your old memory. It may well not even work with it. You should buy the same model number if you're going to mix memory.

I looked the model number up on the website you linked from the one I mentioned which was
CT2K4G4DFS8213
On there it says it's cl15 but on direct Canada it says 16?
