Hi all:

I'm an American living in Sweden and, while here, I bought a Bose Acousticmass 5 system and a Marantz receiver.

Would you guys advise selling both before returning to the U.S., or is it feasible to run them off a good step-up transformer back in the U.S.? I use it pretty often, so it would have to be a transformer that can safely run for long periods, if there is any such thing.

Thanks!

You can get a step up transformer to run them. Usually you will find a wattage spec in the owners manual or on the back of the receiver and sub amp near the power cord. If the receiver is say 300 watts and the sub amp 200watts then add them and for safety add another 50 % for a total of 750 watts.
Check the amp on the Bose since it might be universal voltage. The Marantz I am sure is not,
Assuming your Marantz does not have a 110/220 plug, I'd recommend selling it.

Yes you can buy a voltage converter but for that application you will need to buy a bulky one and not cheap.

Another concern is, US/EU AM/FM setting is different, although modern receivers should handle both, but verify.
