I am ditching cable and going to buy my first HDTV Antenna. I understand that the Clearstream Eclipse is good, but does anybody know how that compares to the Winegard Flatwave Amped FL5500A Antenna? I am temporarily moving into a 2nd floor apt (1 floor above me) in a suburb of Kansas City before buying a home and want to be able to get something that is easy and has great reception.

Winegard is one of the oldest antenna makers so IMO I would try theirs. Whichever you try make sure that you can return it. Digital TV doesn't degrade when the signal is low like analog TV it just goes away. It is sensitive to placement and direction.
In my building an indoor antenna won't work at all since the wall are concrete reinforced with rebar and my windows face the wrong direction.
Placement of the antenna has greater impact against what brand/hardware u get. There is a website, you type in your zip code and it tells you what direction your broadcasts tower(s) are and how far. The best situation will be, all your broadcasts towers are in one direction and you have a line-of-sight to it. The worst situation is, I've found, you are in a valley and the signal has to go up and down to you (it can't, you are limited to weak reflected waves).
