Hello.

It sounds as if your sound settings in the PS4 are incorrect.

1) First of all, connect your Home Theater and PS4 directly on your TV, using HDMI.

2) Next use an optical cable directly form the TV, from the Optical Audio Out, and connect it in the Home Theater's optical connector.

3) Finally, adjust your audio settings in the PS4. Go to (Settings) > [Sound and Screen] > [Audio Output Settings]

Select HDMI as the primary output port. Then be sure to select Linear PCM in the settings. If it does not work initially, select another PCM mode, such as stereo PCM.

If this doesn't work...your PS4 or Home Theater are defective.

If I'm reading correctly, you shouldn't need hdmi from receiver to tv. For instance, i connect my ps4, ps4 pro, directv with hdmi to tv. Then optical only from tv to sound system, i don't use hdmi from tv to sound system. Doing this, i get dts from all my components hooked up to tv thru hdmi because all the audio goes thru optical from tv to stereo.

Op said his stereo is connected to tv via hdmi. In my experience, i use optical from stereo to tv, then hdmi from tv to ps4 or directv box. Ive never had a problem.

Yes, ysf60rr .... I understand what you are saying but ..... what you are suggesting is exactly what 'Natsukage' suggested in an earlier post (I think) and .... apparently that does not work. So ... I'm trying to figure out where the problem lies?

natsugasi or however u spell it, their post also said to hook tv up to stereo with hdmi and optical. In saying no hdmi from tv to stereo, only optical.

Why wouldn't you just run one hdmi from ps4 into receiver, then another from your receiver to your tv? Then go into your ps4 audio setting and choose auto, dolby bitstream, or dts bitstream. I just have one hdmi cable going to my arc hdmi outlet on my tv from my receiver, thats it. everything else goes into the the receiver via hdmi. by the way, I'm using a pioneer sc-95 receiver, a Sony s6700 blu-ray, ps4 pro, PSVR, Apple TV 4, and an x1 dvr box from xfinity. Oh, and the xfinity gateway. All goes into the Pioneer receiver. All hdmi except for the "Cable Matters" Cat 6a ethernet patch cords. Hope this helps.
