I am trying to replace the standard mechanical hard drive in my Toshiba Satellite C55 C5241 with a SSD. This is the laptop:

This is the SSD I am trying to put in the laptop:

This is a picture of the hard drive in the laptop after removing the bottom plate:

I stopped right here, since I am unsure of how to remove this hard drive. I don't want to fiddle around with it and potentially screw something up. I can't seem to find a manual for this particular model instructing how to replace the hard drive or a video with a laptop of a similar design. The only manual I could find was a 170+ page one which provided no instructions on removing the hard drive from the laptop.

This is a picture of the laptop with the bottom plate removed if it helps at all:

Anyone have a clue on how to remove this or has had experience with this particular model or laptops with a similar design as to the hard drive mounting?Anybody know if there is a manual detailing how to remove the hard drive from this laptop? It seems that I have to do something with those rubber latches, but I don't want to mess with it just to consequently render installing the hard drive in the motherboard impossible. Thanks for any help that can be provided.

Not quite. You only need to slide the rubebrs outfar enough to remove any screws that are holding the disk in place. To me, those on the top right and botton right in your phoeograph.

Your SSD doesn't seem to have the screwholes in that position. Mine is inside my PC case so I can't look at it but I'm sure there are screwholes on the back and the sides. It will only fit one way round as far as the short power connector and the longer data connector can only fit where they fitted on the old disk.
If you slip those rubber corners of the right hand end of the drive as you look at your photo, you will see two screws, one in each corner. Remove those and slide the drive gently to your right to release the two connections on the left hand end. The SSD will take up the same position and connect the same way.

If you're going to clone your entire system, programmes, personal data and settings on to the SSD, it's best done by connecting it to a USB caddy and leaving the original disk n the machine to run the clone.

Just to clarify, I have to slip the rubber corners on the top right corner and the bottom right corner, not the rubber corners on the bottom left and bottom right? Also, after slipping the rubber corners, there will be two screws that I have to remove? After removing the hard drive, I should put the SSD with the label facing up like this?:

Afterwards, I just screw in those two screws into the SSD to keep it in place?

I also have a C55-C5241 Toshiba laptop. Being curious about replacing the drive, I opened up the back of the laptop, located the HD, pulled up the 2 rubber stoppers on the right side of the HD (side opposite the HD connector) but left them attached to the carrier with the HD, then with a fingernail, slid the HD slightly to the right to clear the connector and the HD came right out. No need to remove any screws for this.

To replace the HD, slide it back into the connector and press the rubber spacer boots back in place. Now to decide what size SSD to put in place of the 1 TB spinner that currently resides in the laptop. This is a pretty slow drive so I'm hoping a SSD will greatly speed up operations.
