After long hours Googling, I couldn't really find what I was looking for. I'm looking to buy a laptop that I can use for work during the day (the biggest challenge is an occasional virtual machine running on it), and play some games on at night.

I don't care about:
- battery life (almost always plugged in)
- keyboard and touchpad quality (almost always using external)
- the heat it produces (never use it in my lap)
- the screen quality (for gaming, I have an external monitor)

What I do care about is:
- good CPU (I want VMWare to go smoothly)
- OK dedicated graphics (my target is Heroes of the Storm @ medium settings running steadily at 60 fps)

I have my spare ssd and ram to build in, so I don't care what they put in it in the factory.

Oh, and I really don't want to spend more than 800$ on it.

Any ideas?

Thank you

P.s.:
For comparison, I'm now using a (mostly) amazing Acer Aspire 5942g, i7, ATI Mobility Radeon 5650. It does the work part perfectly, but fails on the gaming: Heroes of the storm lowest settings and 1024*768 still gives me an average FPS of 28, with minimum around 8. 0_o

My candidates, but I'd love to get some ideas:
Acer Aspire E5 series
Lenovo Ideapad Y700 series
Dell Inspiron 7000 series
