Hey all, I've been lurking for some time and searching for an answer to my issue but to no avail. I recently have setup my home office and have been having resolution issues with one of my monitors. Currently I have 3 E2316H Dell monitors all capable of 1920x1080. The three are connected to a Dell E-Port Plus docking station (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&sku=331-6304).

The unfortunate configuration with this docking station is that I only have two displayport connectors and 1 VGA. The two displayport connected monitors are perfectly fine, the VGA connected monitor, however, is stuck at 1024x768 even though it indicated in the menu that it recognizes the max at 1920x1080. All graphics and monitor drivers are up-to-date as well as the BIOS. I have an Intel HD graphics card.

I've reached out to Intel who indicated it was likely a VGA issue with the monitor. I've reached out to Dell which would provide no support aside from saying to try to reset to factory specs (did it, didn't work). I've read the monitor manual which indicates no issues with achieving max resolution with a VGA cable. Has anyone else encountered a similar issue or have recommendations?

Solution
It sounds like a flaw in the drivers for that monitor, or the port on your device. But getting either place to admit that, or give you a work around is well, not likely.

Have you considered just installing a splitter for one of the docking station ports? Granted you would wind up with the same screen on both monitors, but it is an option. Or you may well need to get a station with more ports.
