NO audio output on tv, would like to connect better sound (portable, one or two speakers only) to television through dvd player. I stream videos through dvd player and would like the sound to be better. Please help. I've read a few similar threads, but nothing with my situation - I do not mind sound from other sources - only through dvd. TV has 2 HDMI inputs as well as RCA input, DVD has coaxial audio out and hdmi. I haven't bought any sound system or speakers - since nothing is compatible.

Since your DVD has a coax digital audio output you can use that. If you can't find speakers in your price range with a coax digital input then you could use a DAC to convert digital audio to analog and use any speakers with an analog input.

You could also convert it to optical audio out which is more common especially on soundbars.
Another option, if you might want other sources in the future, is to use an HDMI switcher with audio extraction like this one

The volume control would have to be in the speakers since the digital out is fixed in level.
